                        CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR WINNERS.

This year we had 47 players enter with a few of the seniors also entering.

The weather was very poor on the Saturday with very strong winds and occasional rain showers with debris littering the fairways.

The greens were in superb condition but extremely fast with tough pin conditions, something which none of us had any practice time on, this made for a high scoring day with no gross scores in the 70s.

Leading the scoring on day 1 was Ollie Cracknall with a gross 80 but the performance of the day goes to Joe Smith a 12 handicapper who scored a gross 82 with reigning Champion Martin Churchley a further shot back.

The wind had died a little but the greens and pin position were still fast and tough.

We had 2 rounds in the gross 70s with Simon Topham coming in with a 77 gross to take the club house lead as Ollie, Martin and Joe reached the 18th green to be greeted by every player who stayed to applaud the leading group. Ollie Cracknell knocked in his putt to have the lowest scoring round of 76 to pip Simon Topham to win the Club Championships with a total of 156

Joe Smith finished his great weekend by winning the Silver Plate for best  nett score.

In Div 2 Chris Redmond came back from scoring a 100 gross on Saturday to score a great round of 90 on Sunday to win Div 2.

Thank you to everyone who entered and well done to Ollie, Joe and Chris

Thank you to Matt and all the green keepers for a great greens and there hard work over the weekend. But please could we have the course like that for longer to pravtice on next year.

Thank to Rosemary for supplying the refreshments and supporting the players on both days as they teed off.

Thank you to Marc for his support he has been a breath of fresh air to the club since arriving.

But biggest thank you goes to Alan Gove for all his work leading up to the champs and during the weekend.

I hope everyone who played enjoyed the weekend.

Many Thanks,

Martin Crook

Mens Captain

Burridge Cup
Ramsey away, Match report, March 2020

Course conditions fairways were very wet and greens were in a poor condition.

Match 1 Ken Mitchell & Martin Crook

This game was a ding dong battle from the 1st hole which we won but then in the next 4 holes went 2 down ,We came back to win 2up against a pairing which had 8 shots on us, the little and large combination of Mitchell and Crook worked like Faldo and Woosnam. Won 2up

Match 2 Ian Watson and Tony Merrion

A great match from the off with Tony playing some fantastic golf to lead another little and large combination to a easy win in the end won 5&3

Match 3 Dave Reid and Vince Green

This match was lost early on with Ramsey going 3 up in the early hole's but the 2 scots could not get back in the match. Lost 3&2

Match 4 Wally Carson & Archie Gormley

Both pairs were well matched off the tee but Ramsey edged it in the short game even though they had a birdie at 5th hole they sadly could nt get a run going lost 3&2

Match 5 Brian Eastment & Chris Drake

I put these 2 together to hopefully shut the game out as both are solid old golfers who normally win but same story as the matches above went down very early in the match and could nt comeback and both tought Ramsey deserved the win as they played the better golf lost 4&3

This was our 1st match this year and could a our last with current circumstances we all had a great day and well done to Ramsey.
Please keep a eye out for team sheets for future matches on the board as be nice if we can get as many playing as we can.

Thank you to all the guys for the support
Martin Crook, Captain
