Congratulations to Vince Green for winning the 9 hole League Winners Trophy
Men's Championship Saturday 22nd / Sunday 23rd August 2020
Saturday
This year we had 47 players enter with a few of the seniors also entering.
The weather was very poor on the Saturday with very strong winds and occasional rain showers with debris littering the fairways.
The greens were in superb condition but extremely fast with tough pin conditions, something which none of us had any practice time on, this made for a high scoring day with no gross scores in the 70s.
Leading the scoring on day 1 was Ollie Cracknall with a gross 80 but the performance of the day goes to Joe Smith a 12 handicapper who scored a gross 82 with reigning Champion Martin Churchley a further shot back.
Sunday
The wind had died a little but the greens and pin position were still fast and tough.
We had 2 rounds in the gross 70s with Simon Topham coming in with a 77 gross to take the club house lead as Ollie, Martin and Joe reached the 18th green to be greeted by every player who stayed to applaud the leading group. Ollie Cracknell knocked in his putt to have the lowest scoring round of 76 to pip Simon Topham to win the Club Championships with a total of 156
Joe Smith finished his great weekend by winning the Silver Plate for best nett score.
In Div 2 Chris Redmond came back from scoring a 100 gross on Saturday to score a great round of 90 on Sunday to win Div 2.
Thank you to everyone who entered and well done to Ollie, Joe and Chris
Thank you to Matt and all the green keepers for a great greens and there hard work over the weekend. But please could we have the course like that for longer to pravtice on next year.
Thank to Rosemary for supplying the refreshments and supporting the players on both days as they teed off.

But biggest thank you goes to Alan Gove for all his work leading up to the champs and during the weekend.
I hope everyone who played enjoyed the weekend.
