Fixtures, News and Entry Forms for County Competitions
In beautiful sunny conditions The Cambridgeshire Golf Club hosted the final of the County Scratch Foursomes competition.
The experienced defending Champions Marcella Tuttle and Sarah Greenall (The Links) faced Laura Todd and Chloe Ashman (Ely City) making their first appearance in the final. Marcella and Sarah went straight into the lead by winning the first hole with a par. After sinking a long putt to halve the second hole they moved further into the lead with a par on the third hole. Laura and Chloe reduced the arrears when Laura chipped in on the fourth hole for a birdie.
After halving the fifth hole, Marcella and Sarah won the sixth hole to moved back into a two hole lead. Laura and Chloe had a little luck on the seventh when their drive hit the trees but bounced out onto the fairway, whilst their opponents drive found a fairway bunker. A good third shot by Ashman finished pin high and the hole was eventually conceded. With Laura and Chloe in the greenside bunker on the eighth hole Marcella struck a real blow as her drive finished two feet from the pin. After failing to get out of the bunker the hole was conceded. Another par on the ninth hole saw Marcella and Sarah reach the turn 3 up.
The tenth hole was halved and Marcella and Sarah moved further ahead when they won the eleventh hole. The twelfth was halved and Marcella and Sarah closed out the match when they won the thirteenth and fourteenth holes for a 6 and 4 victory.

The Eastern Region Ladies' Championships in which 6 counties' 1st team squad take part (Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk). The venues rotate each year between the counties and this year it was Norfolk's turn, hence being played at Hunstanton.
Four Ladies from our club joined with other clubs and where taken by coach to Hunstanton Golf Club. The weather was rather disappointing after the weather we had experienced at the beginning of the week. However, we enjoyed seeing very good golf played on a links course, very different from a parkland course. Cambs & Hunts with a very small pool of scratch handicap players played valiantly against very strong opposition. Suffolk were the overall winners.
