1960's:
Planning and Development of Bar Hill
In the late 1950s, plans were initiated to create a new village, Bar Hill, to address housing shortages in South Cambridgeshire. The development included residential areas, a shopping mall, and recreational facilities.

1974
Opening of The Cambridgeshire Golf Club
As part of Bar Hill’s development, The Cambridgeshire Golf Club was established in 1974. The 18-hole, par 72 course spans 6,750 yards and is set within 200 acres of parkland, offering a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers of all abilities.

1975
Rapid Growth of Bar Hill
By 1975, Bar Hill’s population had grown to 1,673 residents across 599 homes. The village’s amenities expanded to include a pub, a church, and a hotel with its own golf course, enhancing the community’s recreational offerings.

1989
Completion of Original Development Plan
The final house of the original Bar Hill development plan was completed in 1989, bringing the population to over 5,000. The village’s infrastructure, including The Cambridgeshire Golf Club, played a significant role in attracting new residents and visitors.

1991
Hosting Professional Tournaments
Since 1991, The Cambridgeshire Golf Club has hosted several professional tournaments, including the PGA East Anglian Open. The course’s challenging layout has attracted renowned golfers such as Tom Watson, Nick Faldo, and Seve Ballesteros.

Present Day
A Premier Golfing Destination
Today, The Cambridgeshire Golf Club continues to be a premier golfing destination in the region, offering excellent facilities, including a pro shop, practice areas, and a clubhouse. The club welcomes both members and visitors, maintaining its reputation for quality and hospitality.
